The procedure shown in the picture above represents colonoscopy.
Virtual colonoscopy is computer reconstructed three dimensional (3D) display of (endoluminal view) of CT or MRI-colonography. It can be used even when conventional colonoscopy or barium enema has failed or can not be done, as a screening tool for colorectal cancer.
But the main disadvantage is that the biopsy (samples) cannot be taken, as there is no real colonoscope in the lumen.
