Chest X-ray shown below is showing all the features except:
A. Right atrial enlargement
B. Narrow vascular pedicle
C. Decreased pulmonary blood flow
D. Pulmonary venous hypertensionPSYCHIATRY
Answer- D. Pulmonary venous hypertensionPSYCHIATRY
- The given chest X-ray is of Ebstein’s anomaly (with box shaped heart) shows cardiomegaly , narrow vascular pedicles , hyperlucent lung fields (less prominent vascular markings suggestive of decreased pulmonary flow), not the pulmonary’ hypertension in this case. Pulmonary venous hypertension will show prominent hilar vessels, plethoric lung fields.
- “Ebstein’s anomaly: On roentgenographic examination, heart six,e varies from stightly enlarged to massive box-shaped cardiomegaly caased by enlargement of the right atrium. In newborns with severe Ebstein anomaly, the heart may totally obscure the pulmonary fields.
