The following picture of the eye was taken. It shows corneal abrasion, foreign body, corneal ulcer and perforation. Hypotonic maculopathy can result from all except:
A. Suprachoroidal hemorrhage
B. Uveal bleb leak
D. Filtration site leak
Answer-A. Suprachoroidal hemorrhage
Saprachoroidal hemonhage is a bleed into the saprachoroidal space from ruptured posterior ciliary vessels. It doesn’t cause hypotony maculopathy.
Hypotony maculopathy is low IOP associated with chorioretinal folds near macula, optic nerve head edema & vessel tortuosity,
- May occur after ocular inflammation, trauma, or surgery.
- MC cause: Glaucoma filtering surgery; Mitomycin C increases the risks
