Ans.C. Saline infusion sonography
The image depicts Saline Infusion Sonography (SIS), also known as sonohysterography.
Identification :
- SIS catheter inserted transvaginally, blocking the infused sterile saline.
- SIS Displays detailed endometrial cavity anatomy by distending the cavity with sterile saline (20 to 40 ml).
- Usually done after a transvaginal sound detection of a mass / abnormal endometrial thickness.
- It also aids in infertility investigations and viewing endometrial thickness in select cases.
Note: Harmonic imaging is a recent modification of sonography, where several frequencies are used at once. It is a better imaging modality as it reduces artefacts.
