Neurotransmitter:

  • Increased level of dopamine in pathophysiology of Manic episode
  • For Depression Serotonin and NE

Genetic Factors:

  • Chromosome 18q and 22q has strongest linkage to bipolar disorder
  • Chromosome 21q has also been implicated
