  • Gross specimen – Shows hair cells, teeth as well as ovarian tissue.
  • Typical benign teratoma or dermoid cyst of ovary.

Benign teratomas:

  • Characteristically unilocular cysts containing hair & sebaceous material.
  • Sectioning reveals a thin wall lined by an opaque, gray-white, wrinkled epidermis with protruding hair shafts, grossly evident tooth, structures & areas of calcification
