The causes of retinal detachment include the following:

  1. Malignant Melanoma of Choroid

  2. Pregnancy induced hypertension

  3. Choroiditis

  4. Malignant HTN [ HTN + Papilledema]

  5. VKH Syndrome [ VOGT KOYANAGI HARADA SYNDROME]

1. Malignant Melanoma of Choroid

  • Commonest tumor of eye in adult
  • Commonest tumor of eye in children
  • Retinoblastoma

2. Pregnancy induced HTN

  • BP > 140 / 90 after 20 wks. of POG

5. VKH Syndrome [ VOGT KOYANAGI HARADA SYNDROME]

  • B/L granulomatous Pan Uveitis
  • Seen in Japan
  • Presentation → Young lady with viral fever

Symptoms include:

N → Neurological Symptoms

  • Headache
  • Neck Stiffness

O → Ophthalmic Symptoms

  • B/L Granulomatous Panuveitis
  • B/L Exudative RD
  • Orange Sunset Fundus

D → Dermatological Symptoms

  • Poliosis
  • Vitiligo
  • Alopecia

A → Auditory Symptoms

  • Tinnitus
  • Vertigo
  • Deafness
