HAEMOBILIA
- Bleeding from liver into biliary tree.
- Communication between blood vessel and bile duct.
ETIOLOGY—
- Accidental trauma (iatrogenic trauma)
- Malignant liver disease
- Portal hypertension
- Gall stones
- Vascular disease of hepatic artery
CLINICAL FEATURES-
- Sandblow/ Quinck’s traid- jaundice, pain and meleana (most common)
- Pain abdomen- colicky
- Haemorrhage
INVESTIGATIONS-
- LFT
- USG abdomen
- The diagnosis is confirmed by a side-viewing duodenoscope to identify bleeding from the ampulla
- Selective arteriography
- Upper GI endoscopy (1st IOC of meleana)
TREATMENT-
- Selective arterial embolization (angiographic)
- Open surgical ligation of bleeding vessel
