MASTITIS CARCINOMATOSIS


                INFLAMMATORY/ LACTATING CARCINOMA/ MASTITIS CARCINOMATOSIS

  • Mastitis carcinomatosis is less than 1%
  • Most aggressive type of breast carcinoma
  • Similar to acute mastitis
  • Dermal lymphatic invasion is characteristic feature.
  • Clinically, rapid progressive tumour, diffuse, redness, painful, involving whole breast tissue with presence of peau d’ orange (>33% of breast skin)
  • Papillary axillary lymphadenopathy
  • ER negative
  • Histology- ductal or lobular type with cancer cells.
  • Metastasises to chest wall, bone and lungs
  • Stage IIIB Carcinoma (T4D)
  • Worst prognosis

INVESTIGATIONS-

  • Punch biopsy is definitive diagnosis

 

TREATMENT-

  • External radiotherapy and chemotherapy
  • Antibiotic- amoxiclav
