MASTITIS CARCINOMATOSIS
INFLAMMATORY/ LACTATING CARCINOMA/ MASTITIS CARCINOMATOSIS
- Mastitis carcinomatosis is less than 1%
- Most aggressive type of breast carcinoma
- Similar to acute mastitis
- Dermal lymphatic invasion is characteristic feature.
- Clinically, rapid progressive tumour, diffuse, redness, painful, involving whole breast tissue with presence of peau d’ orange (>33% of breast skin)
- Papillary axillary lymphadenopathy
- ER negative
- Histology- ductal or lobular type with cancer cells.
- Metastasises to chest wall, bone and lungs
- Stage IIIB Carcinoma (T4D)
- Worst prognosis
INVESTIGATIONS-
- Punch biopsy is definitive diagnosis
TREATMENT-
- External radiotherapy and chemotherapy
- Antibiotic- amoxiclav
