Time taken by the dead body to mimic the condition as shown in the picture below in indian summers is ?
In the image,a dead body is seen floating on the surface of the water.
The Biology of Drowning
- A cadaver in the water starts to sink as soon as the air in its lungs is replaced with water.
- Once submerged, the body stays underwater until the bacteria in the gut and chest cavity produce enough gas—methane, hydrogen sulfide, and carbon dioxide, etc that the body becomes lighter than water—to float it to the surface like a balloon.
- If the water is warm, the formation of gas within the body occurs rapidly and the body may rise to the surface in a day or two.
- However, if the water is cold, bacterial action takes place very slowly and it may take several weeks before the body appear on the surface.
