Boundaries

• Anteriorly by the median plane of the neck
• Posteriorly by sternocleidomastoid muscle
• Superiorly by base of mandible & a line joining mandible to mastoid process.
• Superficial fascia contains Platysma, cervical branch of facial nerve, anterior jugular vein & few lymph nodes.

Submental triangle

Boundaries:

• On each side anterior belly of digastric
• Base is formed by the body of hyoid bone

Boundaries:

• Anteroinferiorly : anterior belly of digastric
• Posteroinferiorly : posterior belly of digastric & stylohyoid

Boundaries:

Anterosuperiorly – posterior belly of digastric & stlohyoid.

Contents:

• Infrahyoid ribbon muscles namely sternohyoid , omohyoid, sternothyroid & thyrohyoid
• Infrahyoid muscles are supplied by ansa cervicalis except thyrohyoid which is supplied by C1 through hypoglossal nerve
