Deep fibular (peroneal)
Superficial fibular (peroneal)
Answer C) Deep fibular (peroneal)
The deep fibular (peroneal) nerve supplies the fibularis (peroneus) tertius muscle.
Although its name might lead one to think that this muscle is in the lateral compartment with the other two fibularis (peroneus) muscles, it is in the anterior, extensor compartment of the leg.
It is named for its origin from the fibula.
It inserts upon the dorsum of the base of the fifth (or fourth) metatarsal bone and assists in extension and eversion of the foot.
