MEDULLARY SPONGE KIDNEY
- It is autosomal recessive
- Dilatation of distal portion of the collecting duct with associated cyst having a sponge appearance.
- It is usually bilateral.
- Infection and calculi due to urinary stasis in the tubercle.
- Associated with hemihypertrophy of the body, hypercalculs stone formation, nephrocalcinosis.
CLINICAL FEATURES-
- UTI (infection)
- Stone with renal colic
- Recurrent Haematuria
INVESTIGATIONS-
- IVP-
- Bristles on brush appearance due to dilated ducts
- Bouquet of flower appearance due to calcification of ecstatic ducts
TREATMENT-
- No treatment
