Fate 1– Generation of ATP by taking Acetyl CoA to Krebs’s Cycle [Total 8 Acetyl CoA]

  • Total Energy Produced by this Step = 8 X 10 = 80 ATP

Fate 2– Conversion of Acetyl CoA to Acetoacetate

  • Total Energy Produced / Lost by this Step = Zero

Fate 3– Conversion of Acetyl CoA to Beta Hydroxy Butyrate

  • Loss of 1 Mole of NADPH = 4 X 2.5 = 10 ATP Lost

Fate 1 = 80 + 28 – 2 = 106 ATP

Fate 2 = 28 – 2 = 26 ATP

Fate 3 = 28 – 2 – 10 = 16 ATP
