Risk for Gestational Diabetes
Low risk:
- Age<25years
- BMI= Normal before pregnancy
- Normal weight at birth
- No family history of diabetes
- No H/O poor obstetrical outcome
- No H/O poor abnormal glucose tolerance Average risk:
Age>25years
- Overweight before pregnancy
- Blood sugar levels are ↑ after 24-28 weeks
- ↑weight at birth-previous baby
High risk:
- Age>30 years
- Marked obesity
- Previous H/O GDM
- Strong family H/O type 2 DM
- H/O Congenital malformation in previous pregnancies
- >3 spontaneous abortions
- Stillbirth / IUD
- Polyhydramnios & Macrosomia
