Pathophysiology
- A bicornuate uterus is formed during embryogenesis.
- The fusion process of the upper part of the paramesonephric ducts is altered. As a result, the lower part of the uterus is unitary while the upper part is bifurcated.
- Bicornuate uterus is due to incomplete fusion of paramesonephric duct.
- Mullerian duct is synonymous to paramesonephric duct whereas wolffian duct is synonymous of Mesonephric duct.
