Ans: c. sulfhemoglobin.(Ref Reddy 34/e p157, 33/e plan)
- Given picture – Marbling of skin.
- Caused by deposition of sulfhemoglobin.
Marbling of skin:
- Superficial veins especially over roots of the limbs, thigh, sides of abdomen, shoulders, chest & neck are stained greenish-brown or purplish-red.
- Depending on total sulfhemoglobin formation within affected vessel.
- Appears in linear branching pattern.
- Due to RBC hemolysis staining vessel wall & infiltrates into tissue à gives “marbled appearance”
- Red à then greenish pattern in skin resembling tree branches.
