• Given picture – Marbling of skin.
• Caused by deposition of sulfhemoglobin.

Marbling of skin:

• Superficial veins especially over roots of the limbs, thigh, sides of abdomen, shoulders, chest & neck are stained greenish-brown or purplish-red.
• Depending on total sulfhemoglobin formation within affected vessel.
• Appears in linear branching pattern.
• Due to RBC hemolysis staining vessel wall & infiltrates into tissue à gives “marbled appearance”
• Red à then greenish pattern in skin resembling tree branches.
