Suprarenal Gland

SUPRARENAL GLAND

Q. 1

Which of the following type of fascia encloses the kidney and adrenal gland?

 A

Colle’s fascia

 B

Buck’s fascia

 C

Gerota’s fascia

 D

Camper’s fascia

Q. 1

Which of the following type of fascia encloses the kidney and adrenal gland?

 A

Colle’s fascia

 B

Buck’s fascia

 C

Gerota’s fascia

 D

Camper’s fascia

Ans. C

Explanation:

Kidney and the adrenal gland is enclosed within Gerota’s fascia.
  • Colle’s fascia is the fascia of the anterior triangle of the perineum. Antero posteriorly it is continuous with the scarpa’s fascia. It prevents the spread of infection in the posterior or lateral direction.
  • Dartos fascia is the continuation of Colles fascia over the scrotum and penis.
  • Buck’s fascia lies deep to dartos fascia and covers the penile corpora.
  • Camper’s fascia is the loose areolar fascial layer deep to the skin of the abdominal wall but superficial to Scarpa’s fascia. Together with Scarpa’s fascia it is continuous with the Colle’s fascia inferomedially.

Q. 2

All of the following statements about suprarenal glands are true except:

 A

IVC & liver form anterior relations of R-1 suprarenal gland

 B

Medial border is related to left inferior phrenicartery

 C

Both glands art drain into renal vein

 D

Middle suprarenal artery is branch of abdominal aorta

Q. 2

IVC & liver form anterior relations of R-1 suprarenal gland

 B

Medial border is related to left inferior phrenicartery

 C

Both glands art drain into renal vein

 D

Middle suprarenal artery is branch of abdominal aorta

Ans. C

Explanation:

C i.e. Both glands drain into renal vein

Q. 3

Suprarenal gland gets its blood supply from all of the following arteries except:

 A

Aorta

 B

Renal artery

 C

Inferior phrenic artery

 D

Superior mesentric artery

Q. 3

Suprarenal gland gets its blood supply from all of the following arteries except:

 A

Aorta

 B

Renal artery

 C

Inferior phrenic artery

 D

Superior mesentric artery

Ans. D

Explanation:

D. i.e. Superior Mesenteric artery

Right suprarenal vein drain into IVC ; and left suprarenal vein drain into left Renal vein  Suprarenal gland is supplied by suprarenal, renal, inferior phrenic artery and aorta

Q. 4

Suprarenal gland develops from ‑

 A

Metanephros

 B

Ureteric bud

 C

Neural crest

 D

Endodern

Q. 4

Suprarenal gland develops from ‑

 A

Metanephros

 B

Ureteric bud

 C

Neural crest

 D

Endodern

Ans. C

Explanation:

Ans. is ‘c’ i.e., Neural crest

Suprarenal (adrenal) gland consists two part :

i) Superficial cortex : Derived from coelomic epithelium (mesodermal).

ii) Deepar medulla : Derived from neural crest (ectodermal).
